Jason became a financial advisor in 2012 with Edward Jones and quickly outgrew the firms ability to service his clients. Jason was then recruited by Wells Fargo Advisors and realized, after almost 3 years, that he again hit a ceiling of servicing his clients in the manner with which they deserved to be taken care of. Jason became an independent financial advisor and planner in 2016 and hit the ground running by founding Oculus Financial Group in 2017 and Oculus Insurance Solutions in 2019 and has never looked back. His philosophy to business is simple, be ambitious and honest… when working with his clients, his philosophy is when you succeed, we succeed. He is an educator, dynamic entrepreneur, and life coach. Jason’s Master’s in Business Administration, minoring in both Finance and Strategic Planning, laid the foundation for his insight and motivation to strike out on his own. He perseveres everyday to build a successful firm with like-minded individuals looking to continue to grow and challenge themselves to not just succeed but to thrive. Jason likes to challenge himself by diligently tracking industry trends and data to provide the best possible advice to his clients. He’s forward-thinking, outside the box approach may sometimes challenge others but he embraces the responsibility with tremendous commitment and respect. He approaches full service financial planning with long-term, and short-term, goals in mind, while recognizing the importance of enjoying a fulfilling life along the way.

As a former Finance Professor for Napa Valley College in Napa, California, Jason has a technical and practical understanding of finance. He incorporates his expertise into a holistic financial planning process. Jason’s creativity combines a wide range of available products with evidence-based investments to develop an individualized plan for each of his clients.

He is always looking to take Oculus, and his clients, to the next level. Jason is always engaged in educating himself with courses in Leadership, Finance and Entrepreneurship while currently holding Board of Director positions for the Selective Service System representing Sonoma County, California and the American Federation of Motorcyclists nationally. Jason honorably served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps on active duty serving in many conflicts and operations from 1993 through 2000.

Jason’s true passions are his Oculus Family (Team and Clients), friends and first and foremost, his family. He has been married to his gorgeous wife, Ashley, for 5 years and has three daughters, Michelle (28), Kristin (24) and MiaBryn (<1), and two grandsons, Elias(<2) and Keanu (<1). He also has three amazing furry family members, Burberry (Maltese), Major (Black Lab), and Bella (Great Dane). If there is a mental or physical challenge, Jason is all in! He spends his spare time beginning his days with regimented and rigorous physical fitness programs with a small local business featuring intimate, instructor-led fitness classes and group Peloton rides on weekends. Another part of his workout regimen is motorcycle racing semi-professionally which is also a hobby, hence the “semi-professionally.” He also enjoys scenic motorcycle rides with his wife, Ashley, and friends. He loves the culinary arts, wine collecting/tasting, mountain/rode biking, hiking, SCUBA diving, golf and traveling.
